Bohol: Hinagdanan Cave

It's probably the most visited cave when you speak of Bohol. Hinagdanan Cave is located in Dauis, Panglao Island Bohol. Although there are other caves in Bohol, Hinagdanan Cave is the most visited because of it's accessibility to the public. You don't have to be extremely fit to go down the cave. This is probably my 3rd time in Hinagdanan Cave. And everytime I visit the place, there's always something new.


What's New?

• There are more and more gift shops or pasalubong shops in the area. When we arrived I didn't really recognized it as Hinagdanan Cave because of an increasing number of pasalubong shops in the area.
• Another is the visible resort near the place.

What to expect?

• Narrow and steep opening of the cave, but an improved railings where you can hold on to while going up and down the cave. 
• The stairs might be slippery due to the humidity of the cave, so be extremely careful.
• You might find the cave really dark at first, but as you enter the cave and probably blink twice your eyes would be able to adjust with the light in the cave.

• And low and behold, there's that beautiful pool of icy-cold water in the middle and 2 holes where the ray of light brings that romantic and santino-like (okay, it's that teleserye, you know?) ambiance inside the cave.
• You can swim in the water though, however, tourist would usually go there only for site seeing. 

A good friend of mine ones shared that they used to swim with friends on a weekend in that icy-cold water of the Hinagdanan Cave. It used to be free for all. And the deepest portion of it is 10 feet deep. geeeeeee that's almost twice of my height , lols. 

The cave is 2.5 kilometers from the center (centro) of Dauis and 15 kilometers west of Tagbilaran City. It is located in Bingag Dauis Panglao Island Bohol. 

How to get there?

• If you are from outside Bohol, you can get a plane ride from Manila to Tagbilaran City or by boat from any parts of Luzon, Visayas and or Mindanao.
• If you are from Cebu or CDO, fastcrafts are available going to Tagbilaran City or Jagna Bohol.
• Assuming our starting point is in Tagbilaran City, Ride a jeepney going to Dauis at Agora Terminal in Dao, that's in front of Island City Mall. or you can simply ask a tricycle driver (Php 8.00) to bring you to the Terminal for Panglao.
• When you're in the terminal ask the drivers of the Jeepney if they'd pass by Bingag where Hinagdanan Cave is. (php 15.00) Most of the time they don't pass that area, but some will so you just have to ask.
• If they're not passing Bingag you can just stop at Dauis Centro they usually call it Poblacion and ride a Habal-habal from there to bring you to Hinagdanan cave. Cost: depends on what you negotiated with the driver but it shouldn't cost you more than a hundred pesos.
